The 9th Asian Winter Games torch relay has started in China, marking the final countdown to the event.
The torch relay for the 9th Asian Winter Games has officially begun in China, marking the final stretch leading up to the grand opening. The one-day event, themed "Dream of Winter, Love among Asians," celebrates unity and sportsmanship, bringing together participants from diverse backgrounds.
Held in a historic district, the event featured the national anthems of China and the Olympic Council of Asia, followed by the lighting of the first torch, which was passed to the next bearer. Leading the relay was Olympic champion and pair skater Shen Xue, who had the honor of carrying the first torch.
A total of 120 participants, ranging in age from 16 to 83, are taking part in this memorable journey. These individuals come from various professions and have made notable contributions to the Games.
The 11-kilometer route winds through Harbin's iconic landmarks, offering a smooth, safe, and visually stunning experience for all involved. The relay will conclude at the main torch tower, where the Olympic flame will be lit during the opening ceremony on Friday and will burn throughout the Games, which run from February 7 to 14.
The 9th Asian Winter Games will take place from February 7 to 14, with more than 1,270 athletes from 34 countries and regions across Asia.
