BYD surpassed Tesla in fourth-quarter EV deliveries, with a 13.1% sales increase, while Tesla saw a 5% rise.
Chinese automaker BYD outpaced its American competitor Tesla in the fourth quarter of 2024, delivering about 600,000 battery-electric vehicles.
Tesla reported a delivery of 495,570 electric vehicles (EVs) during the same period, while BYD's deliveries reached 595,413 units. For the full year, BYD delivered 1.76 million EVs, slightly trailing Tesla, which reached 1.79 million EVs.
Tesla's sales rose by 5% in the fourth quarter, while BYD saw a 13.1% increase. Additionally, BYD's total vehicle deliveries, including plug-in hybrid cars and buses, amounted to 4.27 million units in 2024.
