Kyiv has received $1.5 billion in commitments from European partners to purchase U.S.-made weapons, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said on Thursday. He hailed the NATO mechanism enabling the deal as one that “truly strengthens our defence.”

In a post on X, Zelensky said the funds were pledged through the NATO Prioritised Ukraine Requirements List, which allows alliance members to jointly procure arms for Ukraine.

The Netherlands has committed $500 million, Denmark, Norway and Sweden have jointly pledged $500 million, and Germany has promised a further $500 million.

President Zelensky also planned to meet with U.K. Prime Minister Kier Starmer on Thursday for private talks.

Starmer had earlier stressed that Ukraine's "territorial integrity" must be protected and international borders "must not be changed by force".

Zelensky had on Wednesday alongside European leaders urged President Trump not to agree to any arrangement at the summit in Anchorage that would see Moscow gain Ukrainian territory.

His visit to Downing street comes just a day ahead of a planned summit between U.S. President Donald Trump and his Russian counterpart Vladmir Putin in Alaska where ending the war with Ukraine is expected to lead discussions.
