Super typhoon Man-Yi hit the Philippines over the weekend, leaving at least eight dead, causing landslides, and triggering storm surges. The storm, which made landfall in Catanduanes, has displaced residents and flooded farmlands, while international aid, including from the U.S., is underway.
The Philippines is urging residents in at-risk coastal and low-lying areas to evacuate as Super Typhoon Man-Yi closes in on Luzon. With winds reaching 195 kph, authorities have evacuated over 500,000 people and issued warnings of potential floods and storm surges up to 3 metres.
Typhoon Usagi weakened Friday after battering the northern Philippines, uprooting homes and forcing evacuations. As authorities assess the damage, they are preparing for Typhoon Man-yi, which is intensifying and could strike Manila by Sunday as a super typhoon, bringing more danger to the region.
