Hamas is expected to hand over the remains of an Israeli hostage on Monday night as part of the ongoing Gaza ceasefire agreement, Israeli media reported.
According to public broadcaster KAN, preparations are under way for the transfer around 9 p.m. local time (1900 GMT) — about an hour before the deadline set by U.S. President Donald Trump for the handover under the current deal.
Hamas has not yet confirmed the planned transfer.
The first phase of the ceasefire began on 10 October under Trump’s 20-point plan. Since then, Hamas has released 20 living Israeli hostages and returned the bodies of 16 others. The remains of 12 hostages are still believed to be held in Gaza.
The U.S.-brokered plan also includes reconstruction efforts in Gaza and the creation of a new governing body excluding Hamas.
