An Israeli airstrike on Saturday (25 July) has killed the head of the Hamas-run police force in northern Gaza, Brigadier-General Abdel-Nasser Al-Maqadma, according to Gaza's interior ministry and local medics.
The Hamas-run interior ministry said Al-Maqadma, who also served as governor of northern Gaza, was killed in an Israeli strike in the Sheikh Radwan area, north of Gaza City.
In separate incidents on Saturday, medics said an Israeli airstrike killed a Palestinian medic in the Nuseirat refugee camp in central Gaza, while a police officer wounded in an earlier strike died from his injuries.
The Israeli military did not immediately comment on the reported strikes.
Israel has killed dozens of members of the Hamas-run police force in recent months, including senior officials, saying many were members of Hamas' armed wing and posed an imminent threat to Israeli forces operating in Gaza.
Hamas has rejected those claims, accusing Israel of deliberately targeting the civilian police force to spread chaos and undermine public order in the enclave, describing the attacks as violations of the U.S.-brokered ceasefire reached in October.
According to Gaza health authorities, more than 1,180 Palestinians, most of them civilians, have been killed in Israeli attacks since the ceasefire came into effect.
Four Israeli soldiers have also been killed by militants in Gaza during the same period.
Mediators including Egypt, Qatar, Türkiye and the United States continue efforts to advance U.S. President Donald Trump's proposal to end the conflict, which includes Hamas disarmament and Israeli military withdrawals, but negotiations have shown little progress.
According to reports, Israel now effectively controls around 64% of the Gaza Strip.
